Announcing Captain Kip Louttit as the 2021 Bill Stein Memorial Leadership Award Recipient
Each year, EXP presents the Bill Stein Memorial Leadership Award to honor an industry volunteer who has contributed extraordinary time and talent as a mentor and facilitator to underserved high school youth. This individual helps students to dream BIG, gain hands-on experience and discover their personal potentials. They help instill self-confidence, pride, and team skills to prepare students to thrive in tomorrow's workforce.
It is with great pride and appreciation that we announce Captain James Kipling Louttit (Captain "Kip") of Marine Exchange of Southern California as EXP's recipient of our 2021 Bill Stein Memorial Leadership Award at this year's Oceans of Opportunity virtual event celebration!
"I’m very humbled to be selected for the Bill Stein Memorial Leadership Award because EXP has so many fabulous leaders," said Captain Louttit. "EXP gains its strength from the synergy it forms between the EXP staff, the schools, the students and teachers, and volunteer mentors such as me. It’s both an honor and privilege for me to be a part of it as we develop the wonderful students who are the future of America."
"There is a clear line of legacy between Bill Stein and Captain Louttit," commented EXP CEO Amy Grat. "I cannot think of a more worthy honoree. Capt. Kip is a brilliant and well-respected maritime leader, and at the same time, he is the most accessible, patient, and kind mentor a young person could ever wish for. He is always the first to volunteer and never steps away from a challenge. Bill would be so proud!"
Please join us in celebrating Captain's Kip's many years of outstanding volunteer contributions to the lives and career futures of hundreds of EXP high school youth.
Congratulations, Captain Kip!
