Making Education Real
EXP delivers career-based, experiential programs for K-12 and college students that open the door to life-long opportunities by connecting the classroom to the world of work. We partner with schools large and small in a wide range of capacities from strategic consulting to the day-to-day operations of multi-industry career-based programs.
EXP supports us every step of the way with hands-on learning opportunities like job shadow field trips, the internship program, and the GPS Your Future event. It is very rewarding to watch these young adults blossom in a business environment.

What EXP delivers to schools
Industry
No other organization has more connections to business leaders and professionals who are passionate about education, and we are constantly bringing more sectors and businesses into the EXP family. We can connect you with the people and the resources you need, whether you are establishing a new program or expanding your programs into new professions.
Expertise
We understand the intricacies of the education system and business, as well as public and private funding. We can help you navigate these complex worlds and make your educational vision happen.
Implementation
If we say we’re going to do it, it’s as good as done. High schools, school districts and colleges throughout Southern California rely on EXP to launch and operate their career-based programs. Career fairs, job shadowing, internships — when you need to extend learning outside the classroom, EXP will make it happen.
Who we serve
EXP began in 1999 as International Trade Education Programs, Inc. (ITEP). We started in one school, Phineas Banning High School, in the Los Angeles harbor community of Wilmington, to help connect students to careers in the maritime trade.
Gradually, EXP expanded to more schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District that were seeking to restructure learning. By embedding ourselves on campuses, we were able to fill the gaps between schools and industry, classroom curriculum and real-world learning so that students and educators could succeed.
Today, EXP helps a broad array of schools and communities — from large public school districts to innovative charters and private schools — make their vision for career-based learning a reality. View our current list of schools here.
Funding for EXP Services
Our work is funded through grants, corporate sponsorships, individual philanthropy, and contracts which allow us to deliver our services to schools at a greatly reduced cost.
Your limited funding doesn’t limit our work. We provide grant-writing assistance and financial guidance to help you secure funding for your career-based programs and EXP services. Together, we can make it happen.
