In-person GPS Your Future® Returned to Rave Reviews
More than 350 Students Explored their Future Careers at GPS Your Future®, First In-Person Since 2000
EXP hosted GPS Your Future® in-person on September 30, 2022, our first in-person event after two years of virtual experiences. Thanks to the nearly 100 industry volunteers from more than 30 companies and 43 speaker panelists, who gave their time and talent to help more than 350 students navigate their future career paths. And thanks also to our sponsors whose support made the event possible.
“My daughter had such an amazing experience at GPS Your Future, and it definitely opened her eyes to endless possibilities! She got so much information and even got to meet with people from her dream college!” said Adrianna Garcia, a parent of a Barstow High School student.
Keynote Speaker: Edna Nerona
When Edna Nerona was teenager, she experienced a lot of chaos, confusion, and insecurity. She endured the shame of being physically bullied, dealt with her parents’ pressure to become the first Filipino broadcast journalist, and experienced stage fright during piano recitals. Focusing on her education was one thing that brought structure to Edna’s chaotic life.
Edna presented The Empowering Skill of Public Speaking, sharing with our students why she values education, mindful social media use, and how public speaking is a power skill (not a soft skill). She also shared networking tips.
Edna has no regrets about not becoming the first Filipino broadcast journalist. Instead, she feels grateFULL for her journey as a professional speaker, pianist, AND standup comedian.
