Congratulations to the 2020 EXP Internship Class!
On August 6th, students celebrated their completion of the EXP Internship Program: Powered by Prologis along with their families, parents, teachers, employers, and EXP family over Zoom. These students have shown resilience, grit, and determination to not only adapt to their new normal, but also making the most out of their virtual internship experiences.
One of our students, Hazel, who happens to have already established her own business of an eco-friendly, all-natural skincare line “Glo Better,” shared how the mentorship she received as a summer intern with The Center of Excellence in Life has given her direction and focus. "My mentality was that why go to college when I can grow my company and become a billionaire. They taught me the importance of a college degree and how it will open more doors for me in the future.”
In June, 193 eleventh grade students earned Career-Readiness Certificates by completing a series of Internship Program Career-Readiness Workshops and building their own professional portfolios, including resumes and cover letters. EXP’s Program Team was able to match 94 of them with remote-based, paid virtual internship work experiences provided by 15 industry employers. Our 2019-2020 program was made possible thanks to the lead program support of our partner Prologis as well as sponsorships by Edison International, Port of Los Angeles and HSBC, and the generosity of our many supporters who provided internship scholarships.
Hats off to EXP’s Intern Class of 2020! We are so proud of each one of you.
