Your Support of Oceans of Opportunity Made Future Brighter for EXP Students
More than 200 students, parents, educators, and friends joined EXP staff to celebrate the achievements of the honorees and scholarship recipients at the virtual Oceans of Opportunity benefit on April 29. Over the interactive meeting platform Lunchpool, guests mixed and mingled with EXP scholarship winners, students, alumni, and staff before “sitting down” for the live presentation, hosted by EXP CEO Amy Grat.
This year, we highlighted the talent of our students and shared their experiences through video projects, poetry, dance, and art. We awarded 38 scholarships to EXP students and alumni including the Carol Rowen 180 Degree Award winner, Mario Jaramillo of Barstow High School.
We honored our partner Prologis with our Keeper of the Flame Award for their commitment to the community through the support of EXP’s internship program. We also paid tribute to our long-time EXP supporter Captain James Kipling Louttit (Captain Kip) with our Bill Stein Memorial Leadership Award for his dedication to preparing local youths for future success.
Finally, we saluted our educators for their perseverance over this challenging year to keep students motivated and thriving and celebrated the success of our alumni.
Thanks to an outpouring of support from our friends and partners, by evening's end the event exceeded our stretch goal to raise vital funding for EXP's year-round career education programs that help to shape the futures of more than 6,300 local community high school students.
